TBM Performance
Hard rock and soft rock TBMs ranging from 2.6 m-diameter to 12.5 m-diameter together with segment erectors and all backup and conveying equipment are within our scope of supply. Terratec has developed software tools for predicting rock cutting performance, and a graphical representation of these tools is the Rock Cutting Nomograph. A demonstration of the way in which the nomograph will apply to your TBM is shown below.

Using the nomograph, select the cutterhead rpm and draw a horizontal line to intersect the required cutterhead power, then continue the line vertically upwards to intersect the required cutterhead diameter. Draw the line horizontally across to intersect the local rock strength, then continue it vertically downwards until it intersects the selected cutterhead rpm. Finally, continue the line horizontally across to read off the predicted machine excavation rate.

Raise Borers

The robust design of our low-profile, high-power raise borers is extremely cost effective. They will ream conventionally both uphole and downhole without modification or additional tools, and can be operated by one man from a single position. All components, including the reamer and stabilisers, can be loaded using the ground pickup pipeloader, and all will pass through the power operated worktable doors. Every machine is custom-designed to meet the specific requirements of the job, is simple to set up, and is PLC controlled. All Terratec raise borers feature a simple and reliable stepped hydraulic system, and can utilise old 10-inch drill string. The machines are each equipped with a substantial base frame, which doubles as an erector sled.

Backup Systems
Terratec is world renowned for its continuous conveyor backup systems. These backup systems accomplished world record performance for tunnel machine production:- best shift 70.5 m; best day 172.4 m; best week 703.3 m; best month 2.3 km, (see Hall of Fame for further details).

Formworks

Terratec is the Australian agent for CIFA formwork and can supply single and integrated systems for transporting and working concrete and sprayed concrete in any type of tunnel.

Terratec is constantly developing and refining new technologies and is one of the top 10 companies in Australia for percentage of revenue expenditure in Research and Development. One product of innovation was the Terratec blasthole cleaner that automated a dangerous underground task, reducing the number of workplace injuries in a Tasmanian Mine.

Worldwide, Terratec has strong connections with strategically-placed overseas companies which have international experience of dealing with large machinery for tunnel and shaft boring. These companies provide the local links with customers that underpin the export potential of Terratec TBMs and raise borers.

In Asia Pacific we are represented in Malaysia by Teknolinks; Philippines by Infratex; Korea by Toam; and China by Pesco. In Europe we have links in Germany with Dr Johannes Henneke, and in Norway with GB Engineering. We have agreements with CTS in the United States, and in Latin America with SitecMac for Chile and Peru.
